Using community-engaged methods to adapt virtual reality job-interview training for transition-age youth on the autism spectrum

•Emphasized community-engaged methods to integrate lived-experiences into intervention.•Used a three-stage process to obtain and review feedback from stakeholders, and community and scientific advisory boards.•Added a token economy system to increase repeat playability and enhanced scaffolding of learning goals.•Reduced reading level to make content more accessible.•Introduced social story telling into the intervention to enhance engagement.
