Eduardo Raul Hruschka received his B.Sc. degree in Civil Engineering from Federal University of Paraná, Brazil, in 1995, and his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Computational Systems from COPPE/Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 1998 and 2001, respectively. He is assistant professor at the Computer Science Department (ICMC) of the University of São Paulo (USP) at São Carlos. Currently, he is working as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Texas at Austin, USA, under the supervision of Prof. Joydeep Ghosh. His main interests are data mining and machine learning, with particular emphasis on clustering methods, evolutionary algorithms, data preparation (missing values imputation and feature selection), Bayesian methods, extraction of classification rules from trained artificial neural networks, and distributed data mining.
