Bio
Brian Martin is a PhD Candidate at the Melbourne Graduate School of Education based in Melbourne University’s cross disciplinary research Centre for AI and Digital Ethics (CAIDE). His PhD is focused on developing a conceptual framework and speculative methods (and speculations) to understand the ways emerging higher education virtual learning environments might shape student subjectivity. He intends to use hybrid post-qualitative and arts-based research methods to generate social science fiction vignettes as research objects to analyse concepts, and as accessible forms of anticipatory governance. Before commencing his PhD Brian completed a Master's Degree in Education at Melbourne University with focus on equity, diversity, and social justice. His professional background as a senior manager in the higher education educational technology third space informs his research interests and grounds its impacts toward future practice.
