Rail Corrugation Diagnosis Based on Time-frequency Demodulation Methods and Dynamic Responses

Rail corrugation, as one of the main types of rail damage, can directly affect the safety and stability of rail vehicles. In this paper, the vehicle-track coupling dynamic model and the mathematical model of rail corrugation are established to obtain the dynamic response of rail vehicle under the excitation of rail corrugation. Then, three advanced time-frequency demodulation methods for feature extraction of rail corrugation are introduced and their characteristics are discussed. Finally, the feature extraction performance of three time-frequency demodulation methods is quantitatively compared and evaluated by using the wheel-track dynamic simulation signal containing rail corrugation under variable speed condition, and the validity of applying time-frequency demodulation method to the time-frequency feature extraction of rail corrugation is verified.
