Research on Energy Conversion Benefits of Hybrid Wind Power and Concentrating Solar Power System Based on Time-of-use Electricity Price

Northwestern area of China has abundant wind and solar resources. Constructing the concentrating solar power (CSP) plant nearing the wind farm will become a common form of energy exploiting. In order to evaluate the energy conversion efficiency of the wind power-concentrating solar power (WP-CSP) system, based on the operational characteristics of WP-CSP system and the output characteristics of each subsystem, and considering the influence of electricity price, a quantitative evaluation model of the energy conversion benefits of WP-CSP system based on the time-of-use electricity pricing is established to study the influence of CSP plant on wind power peak load shifting in WP-CSP system. The simulation calculation results show that under the influence of the time-of-use electricity pricing policy, the cheap electricity in the low hours is converted into precious electricity in the peak hours, and the WP-CSP system achieves good economic benefits; also, it can also effectively smooth the wind farm power and reduce the volatility of grid connection.
