摘要
Due to the rapid growth in population, demand for sustainable energy has increased in the last decade. Owing to the sustainable nature of airstream and high reliability of wind turbines, the usage of wind energy is expanding rapidly. Low-cost and due to its flexible operation for different wind speeds, doubly fed induction generators (DFIG) remain the greatest extensively used turbines among the several types of wind turbines. DFIG, on the other hand, are extremely sensitive to voltage drop. When the network experiences any fault, the voltage on the DFIG node lowers. As a result, the rotor current rises, potentially damaging DFIG converters. Hence, the DFIG converters must be safeguard by a protective mechanism. Crowbar scheme is one of the most prevalent methods for protecting DFIGs. However, the DFIG loses its controllability and acts as an introduction producer then consumes the reactive power. In this research a modified fault current limiter scheme is introduced, to effectively restricts the rotor current and keeps the converter unaffected from damage.
