Method for monitoring the icing thickness of ground wire using sag measurement technology (iSPEC 2023).

When the icing on the overhead ground wire reaches a certain level, due to insufficient sag, it discharges the line, causing accidents and causing losses. Therefore, accurate monitoring of ground wire icing is of great significance. Sag, as a significant change in ground wire icing, can be used for ice monitoring. Therefore, based on the mechanical analysis of ground wires, this article establishes a numerical calculation model for the equivalent icing thickness of ground wires under comprehensive loads, based on sag and temperature measurements. Based on this model, the monitoring method for the equivalent icing thickness of ground wires is studied. And on-site testing and verification were conducted at the Xuefeng Mountain Wild Appearance Measurement Station of Chongqing University. The results indicate that the numerical model established in this article assumes a parabolic configuration for the ground wire, which is sufficient to meet the computational accuracy requirements; The maximum relative error between the theoretical calculation of equivalent icing thickness and the measured value of the model is 9.9%, which can be applied to monitoring the icing of overhead ground wires.
