摘要
In today’s rapidly evolving and complex information systems, challenges related to data integration and data quality have become prevalent. Within the realm of database design, the concepts of normalization and non-normalization play a crucial role. The decision to opt for either normalized or non-normalized databases can significantly impact the speed, flexibility, and over-all usefulness of a database system. While normalized databases are designed to eliminate redundant data and ensure data integrity, non-normalized databases may contain duplicate information, potentially leading to improved performance compared to their normalized counterparts. This paper aims to explore the distinctions between normalized and non-normalized databases, analyzing the advantages and disadvantages associated with each approach, and proposing strategies for scaling databases in both models. By comprehensively addressing these topics, this essay seeks to provide a comprehensive understanding of the considerations involved in choosing between normalized and non-normalized databases, aiding practitioners in making informed decisions for their specific data management needs.
