Switching Frequency Optimization Method and Control Strategy of Propulsion Inverter for Multiphase Motors With Hybrid SiC-MOS and Si-IGBT Bridge Legs

This paper proposes a hybrid inverter structure with bridge legs of SiC-MOS and Si-IGBT devices to fully exploit the advantages of low switching losses of SiC-MOS and conduction losses of Si-IGBT devices. By increasing the switching frequency of SiC devices and decreasing that of IGBT devices, the optimal switching frequency combination(OSFC) that maximizes system efficiency is identified. Additionally, by deploying the SiC-MOS in a designated phase, the overall magnetic field distribution of the motor can be optimized, reducing the iron dissipation of the motor and improving its control performance.
