AC microgrid, as an effective form of integrating new energy into the grid, has received more and more attention because of its unique advantages. In order to improve the inertia and damping of the AC microgrid and realize the friendly integration of new energy to the grid, a virtual synchronous genera-tor (VSG) control strategy applicable to the matrix converter is proposed. Aiming at the problem that the frequency of the traditional VSG cannot be restored to the rated value after the load power fluctuations, the VSG secondary frequency modulation control strategy is introduced. Finally, the correctness and effectiveness of the control strategy are verified in the island and grid-connected operation modes.
