Implementation of a Video Game Controlled by Pressing the Upper Arm Using PPG Sensor

Many interaction methods between users and wearable devices have been proposed until now. In previous works, an interaction method to input commands by controlling the photoelectric pulse wave sensor value is proposed. In this paper, we propose a new interaction method using pulse wave control, a video game played using pulse wave control as a game input. The proposed method uses a pulse wave like a game controller. Two types of video games were implemented: a side-scrolling game and a quick-fire shooting game. A total of 18,360 logs were collected and evaluated. As a result, the idea of the proposed method was well appreciated; however, the operability of the game remained an issue.
