Extension of the Vertex-Centered Mixed-Element-Volume MUSCL scheme to mixed-element meshes

Adapted unstructured meshes have proven to be the best option in terms of accuracy and computational cost for complex flows. However, many cases demand meshes to meet directional constraints. In these cases, mixed-element meshes are expected to be the most efficient solution. The intent of this work is proposing an extension of the Mixed-Element-Volume scheme to 3D mixed-element meshes involving tetrahedra, prisms and pyramids. A MUSCL type reconstruction method using downstream and upstream FE gradients is used to discretize the convective fluxes. Viscous fluxes are discretized using an original extension of the APproximated Finite Element (APFE) method to 3D elements.
