摘要
A 54-year-old diabetic man with acute myeloid leukemia underwent chemotherapy. He was diagnosed with uveitis and underwent a vitreous biopsy. Two weeks later, he was referred for progressively decreased vision to counting fingers. Sit-lamp examination revealed corneal edema with hypopyon [Fig. 1a]. During vitrectomy, the fundus demonstrated tree-branch-like vitreous condensations [Fig. 1b]. Blood and vitreous samples showed growth of Fusarium petroliphilum [Fig. 1c and d]. The patient was treated with intravenous and intravitreal amphotericin B and voriconazole.[1,2] Six months later, visual acuity was hand motions due to corneal opacity. Ophthalmologists should suspect endogenous Fusarium endophthalmitis in leukemia patients with ocular inflammation.[1,2]Figure 1: Fusarium petroliphilum endophthalmitis.
