The impact of a university's activities has traditionally been assessed using metrics such as the number of publications by its researchers and citations of their work. However, such simple measures offer a limited understanding of a university’sUniversities true impact on society. Activities beyond research, including learning, teaching, operationalisation of research findings, and other outreach and engagement activities must also be taken into account to gain a more holistic understanding of a university’sUniversities effectiveness. This may be particularly so in relation to a university’s work on climate changeClimate change: an area in which rapid action on the ground is needed both for adaptationAdaptation and mitigation initiatives.
