Bit Pair Recoding Algorithm for Digital Filter Design in Communication System

In the aviation communication system, a filter is needed to cut the audio signal from the pilot or co-pilot voice baseband from 20 KHz to approximately 4-5 KHz. Filters can be built from analog filters or digital filters. Digital filters can be implemented in a single chip Integrated Circuit. Implementation of the Digital Filter Coefficient can be done with several algorithms including the Paper and Pencil algorithm, Booth Algorithm and Bit Pair Recoding Algorithm. In this research will be designed a digital low pass filter with the Hamming windowing technique and the implementation of the emerging filter coefficients using bit pair recoding algorithm to reduce the amount of hardware used so the time delay propagation it’s faster. Result of the research show that implementation of digital filter coefficient using Bit Pair Recoding have a shortest propagation delay time according to the other algorithms (Booth and Paper & Pencil). Error prosentation due to rounding in the implementation of digital filter coefficient is very small is about 0,236296% - 0,356472%.
