Effects of fatigue and deformation on bursting pressure of conventional slotted blasting disc

Blasting disc, as a safety relief device for pressure vessels, playing a crucial role in ensuring the safety of petrochemical production. Due to factors such as changes in the stored media within pressure vessels, blasting discs are inevitably subjected to cycle loads during their service life. Therefore, studying the fatigue performance of blasting disc is essential. In this study, conventional slotted blasting discs are used as experimental objects. Based on ABAQUS and FE-SAFE combined simulation method, the fatigue life of bursting discs is predicted. By using the high-precision laser scanning method, the deformation of blasting disc subjected to repeated loading can be measured without effecting their performance. A relationship model is established between loading pressure, cycle number, deformation, and change in blasting pressure. The results show that, under constant loading pressure, the deformation of conventional slotted blasting discs varies linearly with the cycle number, and follows a power function relationship with the change in blasting pressure. The deformation can be used to accurately predict the fatigue life of blasting disc, providing a new insight for fatigue life prediction of blasting discs.
