Integration of Small Angle Approaches Techniques in Capsule Ultrasound Devices for the Drug Delivery System

Existing endoscopes primarily serve the purpose of observation. However, in this study, we have developed a miniature capsule designed specifically for intra-body injections, with a particular focus on addressing the needs of diabetes patients. The outer shell of the capsule is constructed using Polylactic acid (PLA) via 3D printing technology. Additionally, the capsule integrates ultrasound technology to facilitate internal visualization. To enable controlled injection, we have incorporated a microelectromechanical switch for ejection, which is coupled with a micro-pump responsible for delivering insulin during the injection process. For penetration, a standard 32G insulin needle is utilized. In order to ensure consistent and accurate injections, we have applied the principle of a weighted pendulum. This ingenious mechanism guarantees that the needle remains consistently oriented downward even while the capsule is in motion. Through the implementation of this innovative design, we have successfully achieved intra-body injections. This advancement holds significant promise in alleviating the challenges faced by diabetes patients who are reliant on external injections, thereby enhancing their overall convenience and quality of life.
