Thermodynamic Modeling and Analysis of Liquid Air Energy Storage System

In order to solve the problem of dependence of traditional compressed air energy storage systems on large gas storage chambers, and promote the indepth research of liquid air energy storage systems, the thermodynamic model of cryogenic liquefied air energy storage (LAES) system was established, and thermodynamic analysis and sensitivity analysis is carried out. The analysis results show that the system cycle efficiency reaches 60.31%, and the effects of compressor unit outlet pressure, cryogenic pump outlet pressure and air temperature before throttling on the performance of liquefied air energy storage system are investigated. The result shows that when the outlet pressure of the compressor unit increases, the compression work and expansion work increase accordingly, but the system cycle efficiency gradually decreases due to the slow increase of expansion work; Increasing the outlet pressure of the cryogenic pump can significantly improve the system roundtrip efficiency and the lower the air temperature before throttling, the greater the liquid air yield after expansion, and the higher the circulation efficiency. The presented analysis model and research results can provide reference for the development of liquid air energy storage system and the development of capacity energy storage technology.
