New predefined-time sliding mode controller for synchronization of non-identical hyperchaotic systems

This report presents synchronization of two nonidentical hyperchaotic systems by using sliding mode controller based on the concept of predefined-time stability. The two chaotic systems used for synchronization are topologically different from each other. A self-excited hyperchaotic system with dissipative nature is selected as the master system and a hidden hyperchaotic system with conservative nature is selected as the slave system. Sliding mode control is an effective tool to achieve synchronization in chaotic systems. However, it suffers from asymptotic convergence as well dependency on the initial conditions. Thereby, a new predefined-time sliding mode controller is used to synchronize the non-identical hyperchaotic systems. The designed controller does the task of synchronization within a pre-assigned time and its convergence is independent of initial conditions. In addition, the controller shows robustness against external disturbances and parameter uncertainties. Simulation results are obtained in MATLAB environment which reveals the successful implementation of the designed controller.
