As a channel for transmitting electric energy, the safe and stable operation of power lines will directly affect the power supply reliability of the entire power system. When the power line fails, it can quickly and accurately find out the fault location, repair the line in time and restore the power supply, which can reduce the economic losses caused by power outage. It has significant importance for the safe and stable operation of the entire power system. Developing a fast and accurate fault location system has become an urgent need for the power system department, and it is also a subject that motivate the majority of scientific researchers at home and abroad continue to study. This paper proposed a hardware and software implementation scheme of traveling wave acquisition based on FPGA. The PCB board is drawn by Altium designer software, Use Altium Designer software to complete the work of the hardware circuit design and PCB board layout. and the physical drawing of the traveling wave location module is completed. The experimental platform is set up and the fault location experiment is carried out, and the location result is less than 30 m.
