Flexible Allocation of Carbon Emissions Pertaining to Transmission Loss in Power Systems

Allocating the responsibility of carbon emissions is a fundamental task for establishing a low-carbon power system. Existing analytical methods for carbon emission estimation can obtain the distribution of carbon emission flow in the network. However, the carbon emissions pertaining to transmission loss are usually ignored to be attributed to neither the generation side nor the consumption side, while the transmission loss is a significant part of the power system. In this paper, a novel flexible allocation method for the carbon emissions of transmission loss is proposed. A new algorithm for power flow tracing that takes the transmission loss into account is developed, and an adjustable allocation coefficient is introduced into the allocation method. Case study is conducted using the IEEE 14-Bus System to illustrate the calculation process and result of the allocation in the power system.
