Averaging-Value Modeling and Transient Simulation of Dispatchable Virtual Oscillator Converters in Wind Power/Hydrogen Integrated System

The wind power/hydrogen integrated system is considered to be an efficient mode for increasing renewable energy utilization. However the modeling of hydrogen production as driven by wind power has the problem of model system is too large, slow calculation speed and efficiency. Establishing the average electromagnetic transient (EMT) model can effectively solve the problem of low simulation efficiency. With the high penetration of the inverter-based resources, it may have great influence on the stability of frequency and voltage of power system. The requirement of the high proportion of power electronic equipment can be satisfied by grid-forming (GFM) technology. In this paper, GFM with dispatchable virtual oscillator control (dVOC) dynamics control is be modeled and analyzed. To further investigate performance of dVOC, it is implemented in the grid-islanded mode and grid-connected mode of hydrogen production by wind power. The results show the superior response characteristics of the active power and reactive power and transient stability of the frequency and voltage that the response time of the frequency is about 0.1 s at transient process and the fluctuation of voltage only within the range of 0.01% after being disturbed due to limi-cycle nature of dVOC.
