A Drilling Pressure and Torque Characterization Method of Measuring Short Joint While Drilling in Small Boreholes

For drilling accidents that are likely to occur during the drilling of small boreholes, an analytical method for measuring short joint in small borehole drilling pressure and torque with drilling is proposed. First, a parametric finite element simulation model based on ANSYS for small borehole measurement short joint is established. Subsequently, the structural static analysis module of ANSYS Workbench software is used to simulate the drilling pressure and torque on the drill collar. Finally, for measuring the strain distribution of short joint under both drilling pressure and torque and measuring the stress of short joint in the well are summarized. The simulation experiments confirme that the drilling pressure during the drilling of small boreholes has an effect on the torque measurement results, the torque has almost no effect on the drilling pressure measurement results, and the mechanical structure strength of the tool can meet the downhole construction requirements. Characterization of short joint for drilling pressure and torque measurement with drilling in small boreholes improves the reliability and safety of drilling pressure and torque measurement.
