Design and Validation of 2 Port CP MIMO Monopole Antenna for n79 5G Domain

A simple monopole two port circularly polarized MIMO antenna is designed, fabricated and tested in this article for 5G application. Proposed MIMO antenna is having hexagonal loop shaped ground plane and L-shape radiating patch excited by planar feed line. Antenna is fabricated on FR4 substrate of thickness of 0.8 mm. Antenna is having impedance bandwidth of 4.20-4.86 GHz and axial ratio of 4.35-4.6 GHz which covers n79 5G communication band. Surface current distribution plots are investigated to understand the feature of circular polarization of proposed configuration. The investigation of the diversity of the MIMO system involves the examination of two key parameters: the envelope correlation coefficient (ECC) and the diversity gain (DG). Overall, a satisfactory level of coherence between the simulated results and the observed outcomes has been achieved, hence affirming the credibility of the MIMO antenna for 5G application systems.
