Structural behaviour of LDSS tubular beams with web perforation under three-point bending

The paper deals with the numerical study of Lean Duplex Stainless Steel (LDSS) rectangular tubular beams with circular and rectangular web perforation under three-point bending to assess the shear and moment response employing FE software package Abaqus. Various parameters such as cross-section slenderness, perforation depth, perforation length and shape were considered in the study. The results of the FE analysis are then compared to the revised European stainless-steel design regulations. A modification of the currently available European design specification was also proposed based on the numerical study conducted.
