摘要
Waste management is a crucial issue for developing countries, as it affects their environment, health and economy. Poor waste management can lead to pollution, disease outbreaks, greenhouse gas emissions and social conflicts. Therefore, developing countries need to adopt strategic decisions to improve their waste management systems and practices. This article explores waste management in some developed country such as Singapore, Sweden, Germany, and Japan and compare them with Algerian situation. The objective is to assess the gap between the approaches adopted by these countries, in order to identify good practices and opportunities for improvement in Algeria. The document examines the scientific research and academic contribution in the field of waste management, then presents the types of waste. It analyzes the infrastructures, the technologies used, the methods of collection, sorting, recycling, and disposal of waste. Relevant policies, departments and agencies in each country are also reviewed, with an emphasis on laws and regulations specific to waste management. The results of this comparative study highlight the strengths and weaknesses of the waste management system in Algeria compared to other countries. Good practices identified elsewhere are discussed, highlighting opportunities for knowledge transfer and best practices that can be applied in Algeria. Finally, recommendations are made to improve the waste management system in Algeria, taking into account the socioeconomic and environmental realities of the country.
