Development of High Voltage Switched Reluctance Starter/Generator System for More Electric Aircarft

This paper introduces the enormous advantages and prospects of multi-electric aircraft in the field of aviation, and the integrated starter/generator is a key technology for achieving electrification of its power system. The rotor of switched reluctance motor does not have permanent magnets, and its structure is simple and reliable, with strong fault tolerance, making it very suitable as a starter/generator for multi-electric aircraft. In this paper, a 270V switched reluctance starter/generator system for multi electric aircraft is developed. Based on the requirements of starting torque, power generation, and speed range, a four phase 16/12 switched reluctance motor structure scheme suitable for medium to high speed power generation and low speed high torque starting was proposed, and the feasibility of this scheme was analyzed through finite element simulation. On this basis, the hardware and software design of the system was completed to verify the performance of the designed system, and testing was conducted on a test bench. The results show that the switch reluctance starter/generator system has a rated torque of 30Nm in starting mode and a rated power of 12kw in generating mode, and meets the requirement of short-term double overload.
