Precise Docking Algorithm for Typical Barrel Component Docking Process

The inherent challenge of invisible and unmeasurable docking surfaces in the aerospace industry requires repeated trial assemblies, which are inefficient and do not yield optimal assembly results, ultimately affecting assembly accuracy and connection quality. In this paper, we propose an accurate docking algorithm based on real-time sensing data and driven by twin model virtual assembly simulation results. The algorithm builds a digital twin model of the docking part for the part to be assembled from real measurement data on the simulation side, and carries out virtual assembly simulation before assembly based on the digital twin model. The next virtual assembly simulation will be carried out, iteratively and step-by-step until the two parts are precisely aligned. In this paper, we take the process of aircraft fuselage component docking as an example, apply digital measurement technology, construct a digital twin model and design a virtual assembly simulation process that combines virtuality and reality in a step-by-step iterative process. The accuracy, effectiveness and feasibility of the method are finally verified through experiments.
