The optimization design of a multi-energy system considering the rural energy structure is helpful in achieving energy complementarity and coupling interaction among different energy systems, as well as promoting organic coordination among the four elements: generation, net, load, and storage. Firstly, this article analyzes the supply and consumption characteristics of rural energy, and proposes a network infrastructure design for a multi-energy system in rural areas. Secondly, it analyzes the technical characteristics of distributed energy supply devices, energy storage, and other technologies under the natural resource endowment in rural areas, establishes their mathematical models, and configures the multi-energy system. The optimization design model of the rural multi-energy system is constructed with economic cost as the objective, considering constraints such as construction area, system reliability, and equipment operating capacity. The model is solved using a genetic algorithm. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed method is verified using a case study of an energy utilization scenario in a rural area in Shouguang City, China.
