摘要
Power cables and other power equipment are significant sources of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in power transmission networks. To achieve the goals of carbon reduction and carbon neutrality, it is crucial to promote the decarbonization of power grids and equipment. Therefore, it is necessary to establish a calculation method for the carbon footprint of power cables from a life cycle assessment (LCA) perspective. This will enable the formulation of a carbon emission management strategy to guide the reduction of carbon emissions associated with power cables. This paper proposed a whole life cycle carbon footprint calculation model. As a case study, the carbon footprint of a 220kV flame retardant XLPE insulated power cable was analyzed. The result revealed that the cable's carbon footprint is primarily attributed to the operation phase (95.4%), followed by the carbon footprint associated with raw materials. Potential solutions for reducing carbon emissions were also discussed.
