Review about the psychosocial benefits that recipients obtain from Service-Learning in Physical Activity and Sport

INTRODUCTION. Research suggests that the experiences in Service-Learning (SL) in Physical Activity and Sports (PA & S) favor the personal and social development of the recipients. The objective of this study is to know what is collected in the literature on the psychosocial benefits obtained by these people, to develop an instrument that facilitates collecting their voice, the voice of the recipients that is so often ventriloquist.METHOD. A systematic review of the litera-ture was carried out, in which 300 manuscripts published between 2005-2021 were analyzed. The Nvivo Software allowed to discriminate the information focused on psychosocial benefits, finding 91 references with information linked to the recipients. From the systematic review of the literature 4 categories emerged: self-concept and self-esteem, autonomy, interpersonal relations-hips, and fun. The results of this analysis made possible to build the 54 questions that could fa-cilitate the collection of information on these aspects.RESULTS. Most of the texts reviewed affirm that these experiences help the recipient groups to improve their body self-perception, deepen their personal knowledge, gain confidence in their abilities, overcome prejudices, have less dependency, increase their ability to ask for help, to be more enterprising, to work in a team and/or collaboration, to show aptitudes for peaceful socialization, to expand their social network, to increase enjoyment, to experience calmness, and to feel tired.DISCUSSION. It can be conclu-ded that this study, like others, evidences the need to evaluate and investigate the experiences of SL in PA & S through the own voices of the receiving collectives; but, in addition, it offers an ins-trument to overcome this challenge that arises in research about SL in PA & S.
