摘要
Background Clear cell carcinoma of cervix is an uncommon malignancy of cervix. It rarely affects young women in post- diethyl stilbesterol era and hence, not easily suspected in them. This results in delay in diagnosis and management and hence, affects prognosis. Case We present the case of a young, sexually naïve woman who presented to us with complaint of blood-mixed discharge that persisted despite multiple courses of antibiotics and hormonal therapies. On evaluation, she was diagnosed to have clear cell carcinoma of cervix stage IIIC. She had no risk factor for the disease like in-utero exposure to diethyl stilbesterol. In addition to advanced stage, size of the tumor was also large. She underwent chemo-radiation followed by radical hysterectomy. She further received adjuvant chemotherapy because of advanced stage at presentation and clear cell histology. Conclusions Early evaluation of symptoms is important for diagnosing the disease in early stage. Though these tumors are less radio-sensitive, but chemoradiation helped in reducing tumor bulk. This allowed complete resection and good progression-free survival in our patient.
