The Transformative Role of Innovation in the Higher Education - A Case Study.

The main objective of this paper is to explore the relationship between transformation and innovation in the context of higher education. It is argued in academic theory that the process of changing role of the universities has two dimensions: interdisciplinarity and competency-based development is an integral part of transformation and innovation. In order to explore this relationship, the basic statement of the paper, that innovation has enormous transformative role in the higher education at different levels (curriculum, teaching methodologies, assessment). The contextual background of the paper is a challenge full "skill gap", which is increasingly strengthening at the Age of 4th Industrial Revolution. This paper adopts a case study approach to analyze the horizontal dimensions of competency-based curriculum planning. The conclusions are drawn from the main analytical results of the theoretical part and the case study approach.
