摘要
With the continuous development of shipping industry, vessel traffic faced the challenges including concealment of vessel tonnage, insufficient vessel lock passing capacity, the forged small certificates of large vessels, etc. This paper presents a novel method of monitoring vessel deadweight tonnage (DWT) using high-resolution satellite images to solve the impact of the above problems on maritime transportation. The length and width of the vessels were obtained by Rotation Invariant Task-Aware Spatial Disentanglement (RITSD) algorithm, and the vessel DWT can be obtained efficiently by using the regression formula of vessel DWT and shape. The results indicate that, compared with the cumbersome and time-consuming traditional methods, the non-contact method proposed in this paper reduces the calculation amount and improves the efficiency under the premise of using fewer calculation factors. For shipping management and port development, apply this method to estimate the DWT or goods throughput of vessels entering and leaving the port is helpful to formulate a reasonable port operation plan and channel layout. It can also help the maritime safety agencies with the supervision and monitoring of the maritime transportation conditions.
