摘要
A female aged 17 years, 1 month presented with chief complaints of mandible protrusion and anterior crossbite. Past medical history was noncontributory. A cephalometric analysis revealed a skeletal Class III relationship (SNA, 82.9°; SNB, 87.5°; ANB, −4.6°), as well as reduced facial convexity (−5.0°) and proclined maxillary incisors. An intraoral assessment revealed bilateral Class III malocclusion with a −4.0 mm overjet and 6.0 mm overbite. The midline of the mandibular teeth deviated 1.0 mm to the right. Mild crowding appeared in the maxillary dentition; the maxillary left first and second molars were in lingual crossbite. The discrepancy index was 33. A Damon system appliance with passive self-ligating brackets was applied to correct the dental malocclusion after extracting four third molars. Temporary skeletal anchorage devices, bite turbos (posterior and anterior), and Class III elastics were used to correct the anterior crossbite. Archwire expansion and cross-elastics were used to correct the posterior crossbite. The active treatment time was 21 months. Improved dentofacial esthetics and occlusal function were achieved after treatment. The cast-radiograph evaluation was 19, and the Pink and White esthetic score was 4. Neither significant root resorption nor periodontal problems were noted.
