摘要
In this chapter we highlight the influences and roles of culture, religion, language, and personal experiences in ethical deliberations, whether these be in nurse-patient relationships or healthcare team deliberations. The importance of self-reflection about biases, prejudices and of striving for cultural sensitivity is emphasized in relation to realizing nursing goals. Additionally, we explore the role of traumatic past experiences in the ability and willingness of structurally disadvantaged groups to trust healthcare settings and healthcare professionals. Finally, we provide strategies to enhance communication when language and cultural differences present difficulties and hinder our ability to further nursing goals for individuals.
