Distributed Secondary Control for Microgrids with Damping Compensation

In recent years, consensus-based methods have been widely adopted in AC microgrids. However, the recent growing penetration of unpredictable renewable energy sources (RESs) degrades the operation performance of microgrids, leading the systems easy to suffer instant overshoots under disturbances. To overcome this problem, this paper presents a novel distributed secondary control method with damping compensation for AC microgrids. To achieve the equivalent damping compensation, an additional feedback control loop item is designed in the proposed algorithm based on the dynamic model of DGs. Thus, the proposed method can address the rapid frequency/voltage consensus control while avoiding unexpected overshoots against uncertainties. The Lyapunov analysis proves the stability and feasibility of the proposed algorithm. Finally, several studies cases verify the proposed method.
