Moving bed biofilm reactor (MBBR) with green bed media as water treatment system in aquaculture application

The desired aquaculture system today is an aquaculture system that is environmentally friendly, can provide good quality of water and has technical facilities in both installation and maintenance. This is an effort to support the development of aquaculture systems towards best practice that is environmentally friendly and sustainable. The moving bed biofilm reactor (MBBR) system can be used as an alternative method for the process of aquaculture water recirculation. The paper discussed the development of MBBR system with various bed media and the possibility of using green bed media made from bamboo for the recirculation of aquaculture system. The MBBR is expected to contribute to the creation of aquaculture recirculation methods that are environmentally friendly but still can produce water quality that suits the needs of fish and plant farming.
