In order to improve the mobility of those with impairments while ascending and descending stairs at the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), this research will create a stair-lift. The floors 2, 3, and 4 of ITB are primarily used for instruction and learning. Additionally, because to elevator restrictions, it can occasionally be difficult for people with disabilities to use the elevator to ascend and descend floors 2, 3, and 4. Meanwhile, installing elevators costs money and takes up a lot of space. A stair-lift can be a solution to this issue, giving persons with disabilities a way to move around by using rails to walk up and down stairs. The goal of this research's methodology is to develop a control system that can manage the speed of the motor that is attached to the stair-lift system's pulley. The stair-lift's speed is controlled to reduce errors when moving up and down stairs. The authors employ speed control with the PID approach to accomplish this. The set-point is the motor's rotational speed, which was established at 0.07 m/s in accordance with the ASME A18.1 stair-lift speed test standard.
