CMAC-PID Composite Control for the Position Control of a Fully Variable Valve System

This paper presents a cerebella model articulation and proportion integral derivative (CMAC-PID) composite control scheme for a fully variable valve system (FVVS), the precise position control and fully variability of the valve are realized. Firstly, the FVVS model based on the brushless direct current (BLDC) motor is established. The system has the advantages of simple structure, fast response time and good seating performance. Then, the three-closed-loop control scheme is designed, especially the CMAC-PID composite control is proposed applied to the position loop control. Moreover, the superiority of CMAC-PID composite control over traditional PID control is comparative analyzed by simulation. The simulation and experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the designed FVVS and the preeminence of the proposed CMAC-PID composite control in position control of fully variable valve.
