The effectiveness of a counseling program based on psychosocial support to raise the level of economic empowerment among refugees

The study aimed at examining the effectiveness of a counseling program based on psychosocial support in raising the level of economic empowerment of Syrian refugees in Jordan. The study sample consisted of (38) refugees in Irbid governorate. They were randomly assigned to two equal groups: Experimental group (n = 19) participated in the psychosocial support program, and the control group that did not participate in any intervention program. To achieve the objectives of the study, a measure of economic empowerment was developed, to collect data in the pre and post tests for the two study groups, and in the sequential test with the members of the experimental group only, as well as the psychosocial support program. The results of the study showed that there were statistically significant differences between the experimental and control groups in the mean scores on the economic empowerment scale in the post - test in favor of the experimental group. The results also showed that there were no statistically significant differences between the means of the two post and sequential measurements in the measure of economic empowerment, which reflects the reliability of the impact of the program.
