Stepwise varying of laser parameters to enhance the residual stress field in multiple laser shock processing: numerical verification of single-point region

As the hardware performance of laser and other infrastructures is restricted, how to effectively improve the intensity of the residual compressive stress field introduced by laser shocks has become the focus of researchers. With the help of the ABAQUS software of finite element simulation and the determined target material of 304-type steel, the rules of pulse width and laser energy regulating the distribution of the residual stress field were intuitively confirmed. The results show that different parameters of the pulsed laser led to different degrees of influence on the main characteristics of the residual stress field, and these influence laws can be effectively used to propose a composite technology with varied parameter characteristics. By comparing and analyzing the control effects of the residual stress field of different composite processes, the feasibility and effectiveness in improving the intensity of the residual compressive stress field were verified. The processing method of gradually changing pulse laser parameters described in this paper is expected to achieve the goal of high-intensity surface strengthening more economically.
