摘要
The youngest first-year resident in our program this year was born in 1999, making them part of a growing percentage of DR and IR resident members of Generation Z. As educators, it is important for us to appreciate that our newest residents may have different worldviews, expectations, and attitudes than prior generations. Furthermore, the profession they have chosen to enter has also changed. In the years since the beginning of Gen Z in 1995, Radiology has experienced significant changes, including the rise of hybrid technology, theranostics, and artificial intelligence. Moreover, our clinical volume is skyrocketing, as imaging continues to supplant traditional physical examination and other forms of medical diagnosis. This has altered the cadence of the clinical workflow and the productivity expectations of both faculty and trainees. Herein, we discuss key considerations underpinning the clinical radiology education experience and offer our perspectives on its optimization going forward.
