Dual-Pole Dual-Stator Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machine for Mechanical Rotor Position Estimation in Full-Speed Range

摘要
Mechanical rotor position sensorless control of multipole electric machines was hardly reported due to the magnetic periodicity. Based on increasing control dimensions, this paper proposes a novel machine topology named dual-pole dual-stator permanent magnet synchronous machine (DDPMSM). The mechanical rotor position could be demodulated, through the electrical rotor position of two air gaps. This prototype is composed of a permanent magnet synchronous machine with six poles and another with ten poles. Because of the High-Frequency Voltage Injection (HFVI) method whose scope of application is in the low-speed range and the suitability of Back Electromotive Force (EMF) which is based on the Sliding Mode Observer (SMO) method in the high-speed range, a composite control strategy is adopted which could achieve the sensorless control of DDPMSM in full-speed range and demodulate the electrical angle position of the internal and external motors to obtain the mechanical angle of the motor.
