MPPT Algorithm with a Closed-Loop Control of the Input Voltage of a Boost Converter in PV Systems

摘要
Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) methods are required to extract the maximum available power in PV systems. These algorithms are normally implemented employing a DC/DC converter with a nonlinear behavior, which must be properly controlled in order to avoid instability. In this paper, the Perturbation & Observation (P&O) MPPT algorithm with an appropriate closed-loop control structure for dealing with sudden changes of environmental conditions is presented. The proposed method can greatly improve the time response and the steady-state accuracy of the MPPT simultaneously. The proposed approach has been tested in MATLAB / Simulink environment, and the result shows the reliability and speed of access to MPP when environmental conditions change.
