One-Step Solution for Sizing and Allocation of Battery Energy Storage System Using DC Optimal Power Flow

A growing number of countries are placing a high priority on building and operating new renewable energy facilities. Battery energy storage systems (BESSs) must be linked to the grids to get the most out of renewable energy. Costs and expenses can be minimized if BESSs are properly sized and allocated. BESSs can be sized using a variety of approaches and methodologies. However, the literature does not cover how to distribute these appropriately sized BESSs. The system’s reliability and expenses can be reduced by distributing BESSs in the most efficient manner possible. Based on the DC optimal power flow method, a mechanism has been devised to optimally find the size and allocation of BESSs. On the IEEE Reliability Test System, with 24 buses, the devised strategy was tested, and the findings showed that the proposed method worked. It has been determined that different BESSs can be incorporated into the grid in the most efficient manner. It has also been determined that the system’s reliability has been improved.
