Novel Dead-Time Compensation Strategy for Voltage Integrity Based on Complete Switching State Analysis

Three-phase voltage source inverters (VSIs) have been widely used in renewable energy conversion and motor drives, etc. However, dead-time, which is inevitable to prevent shoot-through of VSI in-phase legs, causes output fundamental voltage loss and low-order harmonic increases. In this paper, six short side non-zero voltage base vectors are found beside the six long side non-zero voltage base vectors in conventional space voltage vector plane when dead time is considered, which is not proposed previously. Then, by considering the amplitude and phase angle of twelve non-zero voltage base vectors, a dead time compensation (DTC) strategy for voltage integrity based on a complete switching state is proposed. Finally, both simulations and experiments are carried out based on the open-loop control to verify the effect of the proposed compensation strategy.
