Performance Analysis and Validation of Different Meshing Techniques Used for Computational Fluid Dynamics Simulation

Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) requires the extensive computational capability for complicated engineering and scientific applications. It is critical to evaluate CFD methods’ performance and analyze for optimization carefully. One of the significant parameters that impact the CFD simulation precision is the meshing stage. Meshing methods are employed to generate groups of grid elements, specifying the precision. This paper investigates two complicated CFD methods, structure meshing and unstructured meshing. We apply a performance estimation based on the Wind-Tunnel measured values. The MK-82 bomb will be employed in this paper to validate the paper’s goal. This article estimates the aerodynamic coefficients of the Mk-82 bomb under standard flight conditions (test speed is 54 m/s). The paper results indicate that structured meshing provides more accurate results than unstructured. However, structured meshing can be used for uncomplicated bodies that do not include more attributes; otherwise, employing unstructured meshing can be more convenient.
