摘要
This paper presents a novel comparison of spatial suppression of interference in an automotive MIMO and a traditional full phased array radar. Using the linearly constrained minimum variance technique, adaptive weights are determined where angle of arrival of target(s) and interferer(s) are specified as the constraints. It is identified that for well-separated targets and interferers, interference suppression in the spatial domain with a MIMO array might be effective and comparable in performance to a full phased array. However, for a close separation between the targets and interferers, which is a common automotive scenario, phased array outperforms a virtual MIMO array. A quantitative analysis is presented by computing interference angular resolution, and peak to side lobe ratio on the basis of spatial separation between targets and interferers.
