Delivering midwifery concepts to undergraduate nursing students: a comparison study of the online flipped learning with the traditional in-class pedagogy

•Achievement scores of students were higher for the flipped learning online pedagogical method.•Students ranked the flipped learning online method inferior to the traditional classroom teaching method.•Workload outside the online classroom and psychological duress because of mandated isolation may have contributed to students’ lower ranking of the flipped learning online method.
